~* Trip to New York City day 4, 5, 6 *~

Day 4 |
East Village is a nice place to shop, I bought a screaming yellow Eighties-California-T-shirt and a patch ;) This evening I was hanging out with Alex and Bernhard eating in Chinatown, on the subway I saw a guy playing the drums (not the bongos) with his bare fingers, that was really hard to watch. |
Day 5 Nice walk through Cinatown to the harbor, where we took the ferry to Staten Island. I stood a long time in the cold Wind on the ferry, Manhatten behind my back, that was wonderful! On Staten Island we got... the Koran, they were giving it away for free. It felt strange because the 09/11 was still so much in our heads. |
Back in Manhatten we visited the Austrian Cultural Center. The skyscraper 7,6m broad but has a nice view and is equipped well with a concert- and exhibitionrooms. |
Opposite the ACS Chris J. and me sat in a restaurant to have some food. Buchweed soup + applepie. Chris was telling about his trip to Hungary. There was a lot of lilac light in the restaurant and the working people were speaking Spanish. Sitting there with Chris was one of the best moments of this trip. Later we had a visit to the St. Patrick's Cathedral. Under the roof they had a flag of the Vatican and right next to it.. a Stars and Stripes banner! I wonder what this state-symbol has to do with the religion..? |
This night we went to a special place a - Saloon in Queens. I don't know any more who found out about this, but it was a really hidden ordinary looking door... but inside it was a creativly decorated large room, free(?) drinks, and interesting people. One boy had constructed his own instrument. It had several coppertubes that altered a sound when touched. I also tried it ;) Some of the girls were dressed in Eighties-style and raved-up shameless to retro-music. I talked to one of them (..I'm Jazzlin ;) but suddenly she said that she had to go to the bathroom. She never came back. I guess in the States you have to impress fast, no second chance!! |
Day 6 The day started with Cooper Union, interesting to see but still not that breathtaking as you might imagine. Next was First Born Multimedia, the place were Verena did her traineesip and Jeremy "shoot me an e-mail" showed us around. Diva Design was the last business place we saw that day. |
Later I met Chris A., Isa and Max for shopping. I bought something nice for Pivi ;) This evening was marvellous. Ice-skating in the central park in front of a wonderful skyline!! It was a happy evening!! |
