1st, 5th, 7th and 8th of September 2005: Acting a soldier in "Red on The Cross - Henry Dunant"

In short: It was great to take part; Lots of interesting people,
many of them French, like the director Domenique Othenin-Girard.
Though he spoke German to us. He was a real energetic guy who
really could motivate people, nevertheless the long waiting and
preparation were exhausting for us.

I was acting on three days and they paid somewhat well in a sometimes caotic way.

The big thing was a battle that took place 24th of June 1859 in Solferino. We replayed it 8th of September 2005 in Deutsch Haseldorf, yes.

I played an French soldier and even had a speaking-role, till a _real_ historien was allowed to do it :-/

Dunant was played by Thomas Jouannet, he and the team are probably in Algeria or Switzerland now, where the movie will be finished. Check out the community website (German) of the extras or see a video teaser here (in French)

This young lady is Julia, who worked on the set as a stagerunner
for about two weeks I guess 16 hrs a day.

We had a nice chat every now and then and we went up to the top
of the churchdower of Frauenkirche. We saw the amazing old wooden
structure of the roof and balanced over the wooden trunks while the
film shooting was going on down in the church room.

From a window of the tower we could watch the sun setting over the
historic movie set till it was gone.
